which gillomen kit did you go with ? I have the quiet kit and it is quiet , but did kill a lot of power . what does your new clutch kit engage at ?

it was not the quiet kit. It seems like it was the performance kit. I have it over at a friends house and he added weights Originally it was 3-2-2-0-1 and rpms almost hit 9k. He changed it to 3-3-3-1-2. Now it is 8300 rpm. I am getting it later today and will post the update DB readings with this config and performace . I also have the tune.

Ok, now the RPM is 8300 max on acceleration and then stabalizes to 6800 (approx) at 55 mph. As far as the DB, they are relatively close, as before but quieter as not as high RPM. The engagement RPM is at 2000 before it start to move. I think I am where I want to be. thx

Ok, I am still going to install some more noise reducing mats. Has anybody installed something like this in the doors? What about the center counsel? I will take away the nice appearance but it is worthwile on doing? I am thinking doing from inside the cab. Every little bit helps. thoughts?
We’ve never done anything inside the doors because it’s a pretty big project. You’ll either have to cut the door seals, or remove them completely and then glue them back on. It’s also a real pain if you don’t remove the doors from the machine.
As to the rest, I’ve done a post here on the forum showing how we do sound dampening and insulation. Just search those terms and it should pop up.

Does anyone have experience to know if there is a difference in noise between the ADV and the XP? I have an ADV now and looking at an XP5. Thanks.

Can't see where it would be a measurable difference, but I don't know that for a fact !! I have an ADV 2 and don't think it's that bad, but that's just me !!
We’ve done decibel meter readings on them and the ADV is typically 1-2 decibels noisier.
At 95-97 db stock, another one or two decibels isn’t really enough to tell by ear.

That's kinda what I thought !! I just laugh when people talk about how much difference floor mats made, or foam on the back wall

altitude also has a factor on RPM. with adjustable wts you can compensate for altitude. You still lose HP at higher elevation, but you can still get RPM back.

The only noticeable difference insulating the back firewall (both sides) did was it keeps heat out of the cab. The plastic beneath the rear passenger seat would get so hot it would burn you until I insulated it. Reflective type material on the outside and Siless foam on the inside. The best way to reduce noise is to reduce rpm- so either larger tires and/or a clutch kit. I am happy with my AA cruiser kitThat's kinda what I thought !! Even tho we all WISH that COULD happen but we are all lucky to get 2 or 3 (in the real world) !!johndeerefarmer1

I prefer the quiet over the power. Haven't had any issues at higher elevations either even though its NA. Besides if I want power I get in the Turbo RAgreed ! But in doing so you loose a lot of power. And some people understand that but most don't and it gets tiring seeing a new post everyday about the noise and seeing people saying they dropped 10-15or 20 db's.

No a Db meter is how to do it. Just get an accurate one. He is referring to the fact that some people post they get way more noise reduction than they really do. You can barely hear a 3DB difference. You need a 3Db drop to be half as loud.
A lot of the Xpedition noise is from the valve train. I can stick my ear near the valve cover on my 900 Ranger and then on my Xpedition, lots of noticeable difference
