Hi everyone, new to this forum, thanks in advance. Took my adv for its first official trip over the weekend and of course problems with ride command. The system is not picking up any satellites. It keeps saying, "locating" over and over. I read it was recommended to remove the antenna and do a hard reset on the machine. But I couldn't seem to find it. Ride command seems to always have some problem! needless to say I could not track my ride or have anyone else in my group on my screen as well. you spend so much money just to not even be able to have your gps working.

Mine had that problem when I picked it up from the dealer, loaded the most current software and that fixed that problem, but then I had no routes or trails on the screen, just a typical highway map. The unit had to be replaced, the replaced unit has been working perfectly so far.

Sounds good! I'll do just that and go from there thank you!

I'm on my 2nd ride command also.

Yep ours just started having problems. Will call today. No V to V working. No waypoints saved. Made a cpl loud pops when turning off. Frustrated

A couple things you can try before taking it to a dealer
1. A forced reset. Press and hold the center Star button until you hear a loud pop from the speakers and the screen goes blank. Once everything comes back on, it can take 2-3 minutes for gps to start working. If it doesn’t after 5-10 minutes, you can try the next thing

2. Download the latest Ride Command update onto a thumb drive and install it to the machine. Even if your Ride Command is on the latest version, re-loading it can fix some software glitches.

If neither of these help you’ll likely need to have a dealer check it out.

Ok. Did the reset. Still don’t see anyone in group ride. (Their machine is on) so we’re wondering were the v to v antenna is located. Thanks

The V2V antenna is located under the hood panel.
Is your Ride Command showing your own location, just not the group?
Yes shows our location. We found am/fm antenna. But not the VtoV antenna. It’s supposed to look like a hockey puck. Called the dealer and they don’t know where either. He said they really hide it. Every model is different they said. Taking in on Friday. I’ll update. Thanks

It shouldn’t be hidden at all. It should be on the right side, just back from the am/fm antenna. Having worked on ‘24s and’25s, XPs and ADVs, Ultimates and Northstars, I can tell you the GPS/V2V antenna is in the same location on all Xpeditions. Also it’s a combination GPS and V2V antenna, so if it’s showing your location, it’s there, it may just have an issue with the V2V part or a software glitch. Re-running the latest software update could help it.

I’ll take a picture on a machine as soon as I get back to my shop.

Awe! Excellent! We saw that satellite box but thought the v2v was separate. And a it’s not a hockey puck looking unit. Interesting. Thanks a million. Will update after software update. Thanks again

I haven’t seen on the latest model Generals, but the 2020 General XP has a separate V2V antenna that’s more of a “hockey puck” and mounted under the roof above the center cage crossbar. I’m guessing that’s what they were thinking.

Mine was great till we pulled open the dash for switches and custom wiring. The mail to the antenna got pulled. Then we found the port in the dash to the plug in was pulled so we couldn’t update. I think maybe now we will be ok. I do now have a new mini with a Onyx set up…

Update. Called Polaris and they told us we needed a software update. What? It’s 6 months old. ( Couldn’t listen to Sirius either)
They did update and v2v worked. Asked how many trails we have saved. I said I think 186 after transferring old trails cuz of problems. He said To Many! What? So I googled RC and it’s says Unlimited! Anyway went out for 80 mls today and it works as it should. Thank goodness
