Turn Signal Kit

W. D. Electronics has Xpedition turn signal kits now. My Brother ordered his directly from W. D. a week or so ago and it showed up yesterday. I’m getting mine through my Polaris dealer so I haven’t gotten it yet, but in the meantime I’m installing my Brother’s.

Despite it being “plug and play” there’s a lot of work involved in the installation. I had to remove both front upper fenders, the dash and the entire lower left side. Also, due to the Radio and coms going in where the lower bank of switch blanks were I had to improvise and cut the horn and hazard switches into one of the vent covers.

The column mounted turn signal switch feels very flimsy and the horn switch wires are so short I’ll have to extend them. Otherwise the rest of the kit seems good. Plenty of length on all the other wiring.

I ordered the Polaris Xpedition - Sequential (TSK-1970) × 1 and hazard kit which shipped today as well. I know the front signals are led strips vs. the three round bulbs I see in your pics. I'm guessing install of mine won't be any easier and I have heat and AC so no vent blank for rocker switches. Of course I won't be able to update anyone on install until I get my ride!

Probably be a little more work on yours as you have to remove the headlights to install the strips (according to the instructions). And switch blanks shouldn’t be a problem for you. Our Xpeditions are XP Ultimates so we cut out the lower part of the dash where the A/C controls would’ve been and the lower switch area to install radios there.

I’m curious where Rugged will try to mount radios on a Northstar. There’s no room on the dash with the A/C controls in.

I agree. I have the same rugged setup as in your pic in my current Viking but with the stereo system and fully enclosed cab I'm gonna see if I wanna do an install or not. I always have handheld HAMS for comms but obviously not as much wattage as a mobile radio. We mainly used our headsets for music and in cab comms.

Radios at the least are a must for us. Most of our rides are fairly large groups and they tend to get strung out on the dusty desert trails. In a Northstar I could see going without coms but they’re good noise reduction on open cabs as well as being able to talk to passengers without yelling.

Totally agree for both reasons you cite...in cab and group comms. I have loved my system on my Viking. I won't do it unless it's a clean install like yours so I'll have to see what they come up with.

My turn signal kit from Corbin Custom Works arrives today. Looking forward to getting it installed on my ADV2 Northstar.

Exactly! I'm great at taking things apart, but it usually stops there.

Installed my turn signal kit from Corbin Custom Works. Very high quality kit with good instructions. Install took 3 hrs. You have to remove the grill, hood, left front fender, drivers door pillar cover, top center of the dash, ride command display, lower driver's rocker panel, and the adjacent panel just to the rear. The harness plugs into the rear harness connector under the bed and gets power from there. Two 3/4 in lights are installed just under the headlights, which requires drilling four holes. It uses the stock taillights. I chose a dash mounted two way switch. Very happy with the kit and the install.

Very nice. Looks great.

I didn’t see a steering column switch option on the Corbin kits which is why we went with W. D.

The W.D. kits are better, the front lights are much nicer. I just couldn't spend near $500 for something I rarely use. If I drove on roads more I probably would have gone with their kit. I would have preferred stick on lights vs drilling four holes!

We do a fair amount of in-town driving since the majority of towns/cities we ride near are ATV friendly including the one I live in. We can go out on a ride straight from the house or shop instead of needing to trailer out.

The W. D. Kits are rather expensive. Curious what the Ryco ones will cost but haven’t heard anything on them yet.
