Buddy of mine was just telling me about this. Buddies of his registered through Montana. Two of them got their machines towed in PA however, they won in court. All 48 contiguous states have vehicle registration reciprocity but you must be able to show a valid state registration and proof of insurance to operate on their roads..
That sounds like a misinformed officer.. lol That said, and as the court determined, a legal state registration and valid insurance card is all you need. It doesn't stop the hassel we receive rolling by an officer that has never seen one tagged for the road. Be ready to explain and show your documentation.Buddy of mine was just telling me about this. You can have your UTV(s) legally tagged in Montana and South Dakota. Google Dirt Legal, that is who I used and received a new title, tags, and registration for both of my UTV's. Once done, the title is no longer Off-Road Use Only, its legally titled and tagged for road use. Its absolutely no different than a car.. (If pulled over, most officers will not know that until you explain its tagged like motorcycle and provide all the documentation). So if my state doesn't allow registration, which state can I register it in?
Where we ride in Colorado allows it on some streets but not all streets and highways. We want to ride everywhere. Besides if a Amish buggy can go down the highway we should be able too!!
IdahoAfter adding mirrors, horn, turn signals making my xpedition legally licensed for AZ roads, what other states recognize it to be driven on its roads?
Multiple places on the 'net say Colorado doesn't recognize SXS license plates from other states. So paying $800 to Dirt Legal is a waste of moneyYou can have your UTV(s) legally tagged in Montana and South Dakota.
