Oil useage

In 1362 miles I have had to add oil 3 times, approximately 1 quart total. The oil was changed at the 500 mile service, so now the odo reads 1862. That seems excessive to me so I pulled the skid and searched for leaks but found none. Any one else using oil?

It’s typical on the Polaris high rpm motors to have a fair amount of blow by, especially if you’re running full rev most of the time. In 2000 miles I’ve also added about a quart overall and I can see it’s going from the crankcase breather back into the intake.

Both my Xpedition currently and my General previously, and every Polaris I’ve worked on that I’ve pulled an intake tube on have had some oil film in the intake. Same thing on my brother’s KRX. (I haven’t worked on CanAms)

Blow-by might not be the right term. Since the crankcase breather is connected directly to the intake, it creates a vacuum on the crankcase and pull up oil mist. It’s a very short breather line and not a particularly good crankcase breather filter.
Much of it depends on how you’re running the machine. If you’re just cruising the majority of the time with the occasional max rpm push, less oil will be pulled into the intake. If you’re typically running max rpm and pushing hard, then more will be.
My driving style is generally full throttle with the occasional cruising
