Polaris has had issues with brake calipers/pads rattling on other machine models. It's most noticeable when going slow. Not sure if these issues would extend to Expeditions, but I wouldn't rule it out.
It’s stock with exception of turn signal/horn, and extra USB charging port/rocker switch. Both are wired to the bus bar. Will just have to keep an eye on it I guess. Maybe when it was at the dealer they drained the battery? I just don’t know. lol. Thanks JT!
Hello. Had my XP5 Northstar recently serviced, and have not started in about 2 weeks. It's garage kept in about 40-50 degrees F. Tried to start it but somehow the battery went dead. Lights came on and everything, so was not fully drained, but clicking when I tried to start it. I have since...
I didn't tape mine to the base at all. I didn't want it covering up the entire shifting base, and probably come un-taped anyway. After I removed the shifter knob, I removed the rubber part covering the hole (it pops right out), then I bent the two short metal lengths of the new shifter boot a...
In the video he states 98 HP stock, and after the kit it’s hitting 142. I’m assuming he’s stating HP at the wheels because the machines are advertised at 113 HP….correct?
Hello, just wanted everyone to know.....I am not a spokesperson for this company, but if you were waiting for a non-Polaris option in rock sliders, HMF has just recently developed a 5 seater version. https://www.hmfracing.com/equipment/polaris-xpedition-5/rock-sliders-polaris-xpedition-5
That looks really good, and I have a leather boot from Amazon I’d like to use similar to what you’ve done. Does the plastic on the console/bottom of the boot pop out or did you have to go up from under the machine and remove the skid plate?
I read your post again. Our machines make a noise like chirping. We have to strain to hear it. They do not buck or sound like belt slippage like you’re describing. I’d get that checked out if I were you.
I have a friend who has the same Northstar Xpedition that I have. Our Expeditions do the same thing as yours. He came from a Polaris Ranger Northstar that also did the same thing. The dealer told him it was a normal noise caused by the engine winding down while the A/C compressor is engaged...
Wow! You're part of the ripped ACL club too? LOL.
-Mine happened when I followed a heavily modded RZR down an unfamiliar trail with my stock machine. I was stock, but had too tall of aftermarket tire, and it made me top heavy. Climbed a hill, struck a small sapling that I did not see, and...
No, the battery does not need removal. You will have to unbolt the driver seat, open the battery access panel, and the seatbelt plug should be (somewhat) under the center console, and zip tied up. You will have to cut this zip tie, unplug the connector, and connect the bypass plug. Very easy...
All Expeditions can handle 32 inch true-to-size tires from what I've seen on this forum. Going beyond that will require modifications, and will change the geometry of your machine. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I went with a larger tire than recommended on one of my older rigs and...
I've had the 32" Tusks on one of my old G2 Generals (non-XP). From what I remember, their measurements came out to 31.75" tall at 14 PSI. I really liked the tire for road and trail riding, and they work very well at climbing rocky/sandy/pebble hills and stuff like that. They are quiet, and...
Milwaukee makes another one, but for the M12 battery, not the M18 as posted earlier. It's more compact than the M18. M12™ Compact Inflator kit. My friend has this, and I've used it on occasion. It's small but will get you by. I have the Dewalt 20V as posted earlier. Both are great and you...
Now that.....is some excellent ambiance, and what it's designed for! Kudos to you, your canine friends, and your wife and .......just plain livin'! Amazing territory!
I've had a couple light bars that did this on my Jeeps, and on my General. The "fins" on the rear help dissipate heat, but also cause a wind-whistle. What I did and others do, is go to auto zone and buy some cheap sticky door plastic edge trim guards. Alcohol-prep each fin so they stick well...
Wow! I thought it was a water induction trap. Also thought that any water going into this ductwork would be evaporated over time by the forced air going around and through it. I'm sure this still happens to a degree, but it didn't occur to me that Polaris would install something like this for...
Yeah thanks. They’re all working now. Strange how they lock/unlock. Just a small turn of the key….I expected more of a turning motion. I also unbolted my rear seat back and double sound deadened my back firewall. It really seems to have helped. Not tremendous improvement , but I’ll take it...
In IL, we have Menards. Very similar to Lowe’s. I went there and bought some outdoor thick rubberized mats and cut them to fit my floorboards. Haven’t done it yet for the bed, but will soon.
Been waiting a couple weeks, but it came in today. I've got to tell you, coming from a General XP 2 seater, it is quieter, and handles kind of cushy, but sport mode is great! Also the brakes are spongy, and the rear passenger side heats up a lot due to the passenger sitting above the exhaust...
Yeah, My General was loud, and pretty-much all SXS are loud, so I understand the game. Will wait until I get it (Thursday or Friday 13-14 June/24) this week to provide unbiased assessment between it and a Polaris General XP 2 seater. Thanks!
Hello, I will be getting my XP5 Northstar very soon and was wanting to install my Seizmik Halo (aftermarket) rear view mirror on it from my old Polaris General. Can anybody please send me a couple pics of how the rear view mirror is mounted in the XP Northstar. Seizmik says they need pics...
Yeah, thanks! Sound dampening is going to be the first thing I’m going to do. I used siless on my Trailhead General, and it helped a lot so will go that route again. Will also be looking for ways to prevent heat entry. Firewall in rear especially. Also have read about heat entry from around...
Hello everyone. I'm switching from a General XP Trailhead to an XP5 Northstar VERY soon and am haggling with a dealer for one right now. I will be asking a few questions once I get my machine. I''ve owned a couple Generals, so this will take some getting used to.
