Oil filter relocation kit.

If anyone knows or is an Aftermarket Manufacturer, this isn’t an issue specific to the Xpedition but all Polaris machines except the Pro R… and possibly other brands, but the oil filter is quite difficult to access on non-A/C machines and far worse on the Northstars.
I would think that making an oil filter relocation kit would be relatively easy. A billet oil filter cap with 2 fittings, 2 hoses and a mountable oil filter housing. I simply don’t have the equipment to build my own.
I would also think this would be something quite a few people would be interested in. If they were also made for the Generals and Rangers, then even more potential sales.

While this is for the General, it can work for the Xpedition as well. This is going to save a lot of hassle on oil changes.

Great idea. My oil change a few weeks ago resulted in a mess, a little bit of blood and a lot of swearing. Where are you mounting the remote?

Probably on the metal crossbar under the back wall of the cab on the passenger side. Looks like it should be accessible even on the Northstars and away from the exhaust. A couple nutserts into the tube so I don’t have to drill through into the cab to bolt it on should work.

I like the idea. id just be afraid of ripping a line off or producing a leak
I do plan on getting the kit and I’ll let y’all know how it goes. I think with proper mounting and good quality hoses there shouldn’t be any issues.

Can you take a lot of pics or video it? I want to tackle this and have only seen one other guy on a razrforum thread do it. He bought 2 things (instead of the whole kit) from HMF racing and he made his own braided tubing instead of using what they were selling in the kit. He also did 90 degree fittings instead of bending the tubes. Looked very nice. He made his own bracket too. I will try to get a photo of it for you.
 
I haven’t really pushed doing this on my Xpedition because it’s not a Northstar and I can reach the oil filter from the side. If it was a Northstar, the priority would be much higher because of having to remove the skidplate for servicing.
I still want to do it eventually, just for the convenience, but it’s not a big deal on mine.
 
Not sure why everyone is whining about the oil filter removal. I have a Northstar ADV and was easily able to get at the oil filter from the access panel above the engine. I used a Lisle 63600 oil filter tool the first time because of the factory filter dry install. I have huge hands (XXL or XXXL) gloves, and was able to get the tool on the filter then get the ratchet on the tool. I installed a HiFloFiltro oil filter because they have a nut welded on the end of the filter for easy removal. I have been using them for 20 years.

Next time I will try it your way and see if I can pull it off but from my memory of first service it didn't look doable. Have a link to this filter?

I don’t really see anyone “whining” about it. More that there’s an option to make it more convenient. If you’ve ever changed the oil filter on a Pro R or a KRX you might know that having the oil filter easily accessible is really nice.

On my XP5 Northstar you can't reach it from the top. I have small hands but can't get them in there. When I installed the SATV skid plate I drilled and tapped all of the holes. I can easily remove the second section to get to the filter. Is it as convenient as my General was? No, but it's okay
I will consider the relocation kit but want to see about a turbo first and don't want the filter relocation stuff possibly being in the way of that.
