Anyone adding a little zinc to their oil?
View attachment 6586 If anyone’s due for one, this Car Oil Change Service explains how professional servicing can keep your engine running cleaner and longer.
Interesting point about zinc I’ve noticed a lot of classic car owners still swear by adding a bit for extra wear protection. Personally, I focus more on sticking to high-quality oil and timely changes, which seems to make a bigger difference in performance.

I change my oil at less than 50 hrs. with Mobil 1 5w50 and 2 ozs. of zinc additive.

I'm not sure of the actual zinc content, but I know the Amsoil is 3 times better wear protection than Mobil 1. That is from the industry standard " four ball wear test".
That's great that you like it. I've never heard of a problem with Mobil 1.

Zinc is need in classic cars because of the flat tapped lifters in older engines. Low/no zinc will cause the cam to go flat.

Nope, waste of money if you use the right oil.
I use Rotella T6 5w40. It has:
1310 ppm zinc, 1157 ppm phosphorus
as compared to Polaris 5w50 which is 860ppm zinc and 756 ppm phosphorus
I run Rotella T6 in my Ranger, Turbo R, XP5, two tractors, two trucks, compact track loader and mini excavator
