Limp mode when accelerating in Sport Mode

I just took my XP out and put it in Sport Mode and accelerated hard and the check engine light flashed around 40 mph and it went into limp mode. When I took my foot off the gas, the light went away and limp mode went away. I tried the same thing in comf and standard mode and that did not happen. I tried again in Sport mode and the same thing happened. Is this something I need to get checked? I only have 250 miles and a couple months on it.

Generally when the check engine light goes off it forgets the code that caused it, but if you can check the codes when it does, that could help identify the problem.
Polaris has a notorious misfire code that can put it into limp mode. But even a bad belt can cause that misfire code.

If you can consistently get it to do it in sport mode it might be something for a dealer to check out. Especially if it’s still under warranty.

Thanks JT. Stupid question, where is the code displayed on the XPed (dashboard or ride command display)? I didn't see any code displayed (on the dash) but then again, I was looking at the check engine light and thinking WTF.

On the ride command, tap the center star then All Settings then Vehicle then Diagnostics.

24 Expedition XP NorthStar. less than 150 miles 10 hours.
Had the same thing happen to me, accelerating in standard mode the check engine light came on and the motor bogged down. When I took my foot off the gas pedal light went out and power came back.
Diagnostic code shows brake switch sticking. Another time red warning flashed on dash, brake and gas pedal pushed at same time?, lost acceleration. Took foot off gas pedal and warning went away. (foot was only on gas pedal). This happened twice.

Thanks Bram. Did you take it in to be looked at or it just hasn't happened since the first couple of times?

There have been multiple reports of bad brake pressure switches. Most of them have been that you had to stand on the brake pedal to get it to work. It could be the other way, where it’s over sensitive and just bumping the brake pedal sets it off.
Easy check for that would be to back up near something that’ll reflect the brake lights and see how much pressure on the pedal before the brake lights come on.
While the throttle switch shouldn’t have any affect on the brake lights, with your issue being in sport mode, you could do the same test in each throttle mode.

Had trouble with check engine light coming on under hard acceleration. Dealer checked it out said everything was fine said to try to use non ethanol fuel or if using ethanol use 90 octane min or mid grade. I can't find non ethanol so I switched to mid grade and the light has never come back. Just an fyi.

Doesn't hurt to try it for sure. Thanks

of course it won't do it today
my unit with 120 miles has been back at the dealer for 13 days. they have been trying to recreate the limp mode but of course like yours it wont fail for them. they did confirm that the diagnostics showed 31 fails since we started running it. I send a movie to to show and hear how the unit bogged down . They think it might be the brake /throttle issue too. they are bringing it back this coming week and we will go for a ride and try to get it to fail. frustrating.

Thanks GD. Let me know how it goes if you don't mind.
