At 25 mph, I’m running at 5800 rpm’s, at 40 mph I’m running at 6850 rpm’s. .Aren't those rpm’s way too high? I’ve had the Xpedition for 2 weeks and taking it back to dealer service adding accessories on two days.

It's in the clutching. I changed the weights and spring in the primary clutch to the Giloman and it brought the RPM down to reality. I can cruise at 30 mph now at around 4000-4500. It's not quite as quick when you go full throttle because it holds the RPM down to 6000 until it gets up to around 50mph then the RPM starts climbing because the gearing. I love it now. Huge difference in sound level while cruising.

I should get my XP5 next week. I already have the Gilomen clutch kit in my garage. I drove my dealers personal machine, an XP2, both before and after he put the Gilomen kit in. If I hadn't drove it after the kit, I doubt I would have bought one.

I don't think so. Most tunes change Rev limiters, etc to gain performance through rpm. Quiet clutch kits are meant to hold rpm down. When I talked to Gilomens they told me there really wouldn't be a point to the tune.

It’s really common for people to feel like they’re overrevving the motor in these machines. The motor itself in the Xpedition is designed for a very high rpm. 9000 is a relatively safe max rpm on these but factory their rev limiter is set around 8200 or 8400… can’t remember for certain.
These are the same motors used in the ‘24 RZR 1000 XP. They use the same primary and secondary clutches. The difference is in the lower geared transmission for the weight the Xpedition is designed to handle.
With this motor, essentially, higher rpm = higher performance. Like others have said, you can kit the clutch for lower rpm at the cost of some performance. You can also kit them for higher rpm/performance. Usually higher performance will also require an ECM tune, But lower rpm doesn’t. All of this will depend on your personal riding style and terrain.

If the only thing you’re looking for is quiet and hvac, and speed/performance isn’t really your thing, the new Ranger XD1500 looks like it will fit that bill much better. The seating looks to be more comfortable than previous rangers, and they’ll definitely have more capacity than the Xpedition.

Personally, I very much like the mix of performance and utility of the Xpedition.

The xpedition is a much better machine for all around than the Ranger. I hated the suicide doors on the Ranger. The dash layout and seating comfort is all better on the xpedition. It was just too loud because the RPM that it had to turn to even get going was horrible. Now with the clutch kit, it gets going with ease and in fact at part throttle you would think that it has more power than before. It's only noticeable when you go full throttle that you give up some performance. But it still runs better than my Ranger did.

How hard is it to install the clutch kit?

It's not hard at all. I jacked the back up enough to stretch the suspension which helps give some working room.
Once you have the kit and instructions, just read everything and gather the tools needed and get a plan of attack. lol

I spoke to Polaris about this issue Polaris is coming out with a repair / clutch kit in January for the expedition.
