I am going to add your fix to give more support to my aluminum flat bar install as noted in my post above...

I had the same concerns.
I added a 1/8"x 3/4" x 26" long aluminum flat bar pop riveted to the underside of the leading edge to strengthen it.
This has helped quite a bit.

I enjoy doing overlanding trips and located in Yuma, AZ.
I have done the Peace trail three times over the years and enjoyed it.

I also had the Gilomen and took it off.
Yes it lowered the RPM about 1500 RPM and was quieter.
0 to 40 mph whas slower, but 40 up was rediculasly slower.
I have a clutch kit from Carls Powersportsin in Boise, ID installed right now primay clutch fingers and spring only and waiting for thier...
Make sure to run a groung wire to antanna per radio brand instruction. You have no ground plain.
Make sure you do not go off road in a forest area as low hanging limbs ect. will knock the antanna off or crack the roof and start a leak.
I mounted my VHF / GMRS radio on my ADV2 northstar to the center of the middle section rollll bar and the antannas to the left and right side on the same roll bar
I made my own mounts for all.

They measure 32 3/8" with 13 lbs of air.
The ride and handleing is far better than the stock tires.
I only have a 113 miles on them as of today.
They are not a soft rubber tire. I do not know the durometer of them.
They say there are a harder rubber for great longevity.
