In the early rumors before the Xpedition was announced people were calling it the Admiral. After the announcement we kinda figured it was possible a project code name.
Earlier this week I finally got my fender flare kit from my dealer and wouldn’t you know…
Also, the information section on my...
Thank you 😊
We’ve been ATV camping enthusiasts since we were old enough to go out camping on our own. Back in the day it was, strap as much gear and food as we could to the back rack of the old Honda Foreman and head out into the sticks. The advent of the SxSs made it possible to haul more and...
Looks awesome! 😊
I just did the break-in service on my brother’s XP5. There’s slightly more room around the oil filter than was on the Generals but it’s still in the same location so you have to reach around the front of the motor through the passenger wheel area. There was enough room to get a...
We do a fair amount of in-town driving since the majority of towns/cities we ride near are ATV friendly including the one I live in. We can go out on a ride straight from the house or shop instead of needing to trailer out.
The W. D. Kits are rather expensive. Curious what the Ryco ones will...
lol. No sweat on the mirrors. They’re super easy. The rest… I keep wondering if I’m going to remember how to put it back together when I get it all torn apart 😂
Radios at the least are a must for us. Most of our rides are fairly large groups and they tend to get strung out on the dusty desert trails. In a Northstar I could see going without coms but they’re good noise reduction on open cabs as well as being able to talk to passengers without yelling.
Probably be a little more work on yours as you have to remove the headlights to install the strips (according to the instructions). And switch blanks shouldn’t be a problem for you. Our Xpeditions are XP Ultimates so we cut out the lower part of the dash where the A/C controls would’ve been and...
W. D. Electronics has Xpedition turn signal kits now. My Brother ordered his directly from W. D. a week or so ago and it showed up yesterday. I’m getting mine through my Polaris dealer so I haven’t gotten it yet, but in the meantime I’m installing my Brother’s.
Despite it being “plug and play”...
They weren’t difficult at all. There’s 2 torx screws on the inside that hold the outside a-pillar cover on and 1 plastic push rivet you get to with the door open. Then you just remove that outer cover and put the mirror in its place.
Well crap… looks like I was wrong… again… just got the stock wheels and tires back from my brother. 30x11r15 rear, 30x10r15 front. But all 4 wheels are 15x7. I checked each physically lol.
On the Northstar Ranger they did a 29/11R15 on the rear but the 2020 and newer General XP line had same width tires front and rear just different tread patterns. And then on this Xpedition it was same tires all the way around which is a lot better.
I
knew about the rifling but wasn’t aware they’d changed up that much!
Either way, this machine rides well enough I don’t think I’ll bother at all with the tuning. Only real complaint is I wish they’d have put 2.5”s on the front same as the back instead of the 2”s they went with. No issues...
Shock Therapy is just the loudest 😂. Everyone knows who they are lol.
Don’t really think there’s much to work out really. Fox QS3s have been around for quite a while so all the tuning is available as are springs. It’s just a matter of getting setup how you’ll normally ride weight wise so you...
They’re 15” Raceline beadlock wheels with a 4 on 156mm lug pattern and 4/3 offset. Originally had them on my General and didn’t want to buy a whole new set of wheels for the Xpedition so we got 5 on 4.5 to 4 on 156 adapters from EZ Accessories to adapt them over. Between the 1” thick spacers and...
XP 5 Ultimate here. I have run the pre-loads down on the shocks from factory settings to get a little more ground clearance, which right now is at 13” at the front A-arm. That puts the front door at 17.5”
I definitely agree on re-springing them. I’d prefer to have it springed specifically for the weight I carry. Not sure I’d bother with tuning. These machines ride so well straight from the factory and I have it on setting 2, so I can go softer or firmer if I ever need.
Only problem with Shock...
My brother got a little over 4000 miles on his Carnivores and they were pretty much slicks by the time we changed them. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these mud terrains get 7000-8000. Biggest difference is the tread is more closed on these so they pickup and throw more gravel. Otherwise I’ve...
There’s definitely some clay but it was a deep rut several others had been through before I got to it. Probably wouldn’t have gotten stuck if it wasn’t sitting on the skid plate. Only had to be pulled about 5 feet to get out.
Fun times anyway 😊
Oops! I didn’t even realize they were called KM3s til I just looked them up 🤪
But yeah, great all around tires. They don’t wear nearly as fast as the Maxxis Carnivores my brother prefers. Most of our riding is rocky desert trails, which these handle nicely and they’re not bad in sand either...
The tires? They’re BFG Mud Terrain 30/15s on Raceline beadlocks. They’re great all-around tires. I put 3000 miles on them with my General and then swapped them on to this. Still 60% tread.
Congrats on your new machine!
Side mirrors should definitely be factory standard instead of an accessory. If only do one add on those are a must. Another thing Polaris should do is turn signals and horn. Regardless whether they’re licensable for street use, they are made for gravel roads and...
