reaching the items on your roof rack

What are some ideas that you are using to reach items on you roof rack...step stools, small portable ladders, etc...

I do the same, i was just wondering if someone found something else they use that's compact and easy to pack for overlanding trips.

I open the tailgate and shut the rear window and stand on the tail gate. I have the two seat model so I can reach just about everything.
