Plow cable wear

My friend is getting excessive cable wear, and it's only the beginning of Jan. I have the exact same configuration arriving in a few days. Has anyone added a sheath or a section of sacrificial cable to avoid breakage. The bike should have some type of roller (for plowing) at the output of the winch.

I am having the same issue. I was thinking lubricating the end of the cable with silicone spray.
