Exhaust fire

So my muffler caught fire tonight.Glowing red after hitting it with the fire extinguisher. Engine temp normal,no codes,but I did lose rpm's and power right before. Plugged exhaust?

It was plugged.My buddy had a Trinity exhaust at his shop so I put that on. Running normal. I did find a post on FB from a year ago of someone with the exact same issue. He cut the stock muffler apart and found the packing had fell apart and plugged it.

I would contact your dealer and Polaris about it. The muffler is a critical part of the emissions on the Xpedition - the catalytic converter is in the inlet. They should supply you with a new one at no charge. If they try to deny warranty, tell Polaris that you are going to talk to the DNR in your state. That should get their attention. Even if you don't put the new one on, you will still have it for when you sell it.

Yea, I know all that. I don't need a stock exhaust laying in my garage for years,lol.
