Hello everyone,

New to the forum tonight. Looking to get a Xpedition ADV5 Northstar and had a question on trailers.

I currently have an enclosed car trailer with a 6' ramp door. Looking at the Polaris dimensions, it looks like it sits at about 75", so I'm 3" shy of getting it to fit in. Would lowering the air in the tires give me enough room? Or, is there a wheel/tire combo that I could use for trailering-only to get the clearance needed? I know it would be a pain to remove the normal tires to put on the lower trailering tires but I'd really like to stick with an enclosed trailer for safety and to keep it as nice as I can. I live in Michigan but plan to take this out West.

Thanks in advance,

You will probably have a tough time getting that to fit. Your other option would be to upgrade to a taller enclosed. We run a 7’ enclosed height with dovetail so the ramp door opening ends up around 87”. With roof rack and 32” tires I have room to spare.

Someone was considering the same issue in another post and one of the solutions was using ratchet straps from the frame to the A-arms. Using that method, you could probably ratchet it down 3”-4” for transporting.

Thanks for the responses so far, guys.

BADXP, yes a taller trailer is probably the best option. What make and model trailer do you have?

We have a 32’ Formula as most times I’m hauling 2-3 machines. Basically 1 of 2 brands available locally to me. Visit with your local dealers and find a brand with quality build. I think the extra foot of ceiling height was only a $600-700 option on my trailer. I’m sure you could figure out a way to cram your machine in your existing trailer but depends on how much of a fight you want loading and unloading. I was dealing with the same thing and just ordered big so we could drive in and go without hassle.

I own a 14' Brave enclosed trailer with a 72.75" opening at the door. The dealer gave me a couple of the ratchet straps from a Razor to compress the rear suspension to be able load the Xpedition in the trailer, but they are a pain to use and they rub the tires. I went to Harbor Freight, bought a chain binder and an axle strap, and a 5/16" chain repair link from the hardware store, I already had a bucket of 5/16" chain to cut two links from. This set up works very well, is quick to put on and remove, and also doesn't rub the tires, just need to make sure the brake hose stays outside of the axle strap when it wraps around the control arm. I use the piece of pipe as a cheater bar on the load binder and wire the handle down to keep it from springing loose. I only compress the rear and back into the traler. I agree that it is a little bit of a pain, and a taller trailer would be nice, but I already had this trailer set up with solar panels and camping gear for hunting. I mainly use an open car trailer for going across the mountain to WV.

I have a stock ADV 2 and run 33” tires and roof rack. I do let some air out and make it in. The opening is 77”.

holy crap thats close! don't be jerky as you go or you be rubbing. lol
That’s just the spring box for the ramp door at the end of the trailer. There is plenty of room inside. If it wasn’t for that it would be so easy to load.
