Anyone try a quiet muffler?

I'm in the older, less concerned about top speed group of buyers that like the suspension and automotive like cab on the Xpedition. Are there any options for mufflers that are quieter? Lots of options for the louder go fast crowd. Any for people like me? Has anyone just taken the muffler down to a local automotive muffler shop and see if they have something that would fit by welding a couple of hangers on it? How hard would that be?
