I use Progressive on my sxs's. I have State Farm on everything else but even bundling together, Progressive is way cheaper and more coverage. You can get a quote online.
Ranger will not ride as smooth. Xpedition has better shocks and more travel. Plan on about 4k extra for new shocks. Ranger doesn't have rock sliders available so you will have to wait on aftermarket. Ranger is 10" longer which will make going around switchbacks a 3 point turn.
I am sure you can...
Mine went back to built but now has a ship date of Aug 21 instead of Aug 14. Hopefully they found and fixed something in the inspection.. Either that or the truck coming from Laredo wasn't big enough to hold all of them.
This must be your first Polaris. Ever Polaris ever built (that I know of) has the coolant lines in the tunnel. I always wrap mine with pipe foam insulation and then stick Dynamat or similar on the walls of the tunnel. Helps a lot with heat. Noise doesn't come from there. It comes from the engine...
My XP5 has been showing built for over a week and ship date of 8/14. Now it shows scheduling build again and ship date of 8/21 to 9/6. My only guess is they found something during the inspection that they needed to fix?? Maybe it will come in perfect. LOL
My 35" Pro Armor are about 33 3/4". I will try them on the Xpedition when I get it but I have 32" Tusk Terrabites on beadlocks ready to go for the Xpedition..
The System 3 appear to be a true 35" or really close
Welcome. We have a 2 seater General at our CO vacation home and a Ranger and Turbo R here. The new Xpedition XP5 will go to CO next spring to replace the General
I think the way to quieten them down is either change where the vents are (maybe lower it some and point towards the back) or design some kind of baffle or muffler to put in the intake. I don't plan on going through water as high as that vent so lowering it wouldn't be a problem for me..
My Ranger has 3500 miles on it and on the stock belt. I tow a 4x8' trailer with a Miller Bobcat welder, air compressor and plasma cutter with it. Also other trailers around the farm.. Belts don't just burn up. Either you drive in high gear too much or your pulleys aren't aligned or you use cheap...
12" of travel on Ranger vs 14" and 15" on Xpedition. That will make a difference on how rough it feels going over rocks. Also shocks on the Xpedition are light years ahead. Front windshield on Ranger doesn't open either, which is stupid..
Cab and a/c should be the same between the two. Shock Therapy has a video on the two machines. The new Ranger engine with steel belt can't handle power upgrades and can't handle jumping, whoops etc.
It's never gonna match the General. Xpedition is heaver, geared lower and has a bigger engine. Then if you run the AC you use even more fuel................
Thanks for the fuel economy reports. My Turbo R gets about 10 mpg. Same gear ratio in low but my Turbo R has more HP vs the Xpedition being heavier. Looks like the extra weight uses about as much fuel as the extra hp does.
I won't have a bench seat for riding in the mountains so the Ranger is out for me.. The bucket seats hold you in place better and are way more comfortable.
another question. I see you don't have room for a spare. Gonna carry it on the roof, or not carry one at all. I do have beadlocks and if I had too I could drive on a flat if I couldn't fix the tire
I am still looking for info on the back seats. How much room is under them? Big enough to store tool boxes or Milwaukee packouts? Got any pixs and/or measurement of the space under the back seats?
Any storage room under the front seats?
Any other storage areas besides the center console and...
Very little break in on today's engines as tolerances are way better than 30-40 years ago. The engines might even be broken in at the factory like Ford engines are.
As far as taking it easy the first 25 hours goes, I can tell you that John Deere says to work their equipment hard right from the...
I have had multiple Polaris sxs's and have never noticed any difference during the break in period. Also never read anything that the ECU is programmed to dump more fuel during break in. Got any information?
From what I have read, looks like about 10 mpg- about the same as my Turbo R. The Xpedition is very heavy and geared low so it sucks the fuel. only way to get 200 miles to a tank is going downhill most of the time...
Somebody on the FB groups was asking for the measurements of what would fit under the seat. He never got any answers. I am interested too. Anybody out there that can measure the WxHxD measurements under the rear seats?
Welcome. We have a place in CO at 8500'. We enjoy riding in the mountains and camping, and fishing. We currently have a 2 door Polaris General with full cab and heat. We have a four door XP on order and looking forward to the power windows and air conditioning. As you know it does get hot even...
This must be a new mod that they did before shipping. The original one in the Polaris video's didn't have this added piece because I could see the access panel in the videos. I guess after the first social influencer video's came out they tried to make it quieter.
That's not how the Hillard front diff works. It only engages when it senses slip from the rear- doesn't matter whether you apply 12V to it all of the time or not. So going downhill unless your front wheels are slipping it won't be engaged.
I have never saw any Polaris product with an adjustable seat back- I have had an XP900, XP Turbo, Ranger, General and Turbo R. None are adjustable other than the Turbo R where you can tilt the entire seat back not just the back but then that brings your legs higher
It doesn't have EBS. Having said that EBS is great in the mountains if you can keep a steady speed. As was said above if you let it kick on and off it will throw your ass end around.. EBS saves your brakes. I have had a buddy drive through a stream and I saw his brakes making steam they were so...
That's what they get for picking a woman that's never drove a side beside before. Her review is basically worthless to me because she has nothing to compare it to. I want to see reviews comparing it to a North star Ranger or Polaris General.
Sure wish Polaris would pick some actual rzr owners...
I have ran Pro Armor Crawler XG's since 2016. They do good in rocks and general trail riding. Not good in mud or snow because the treads are close together and the mud won't come out.
The Bronco comes with some Goodyear Wrangler flavor of tire and everyone complains about them throwing rocks
Xpedition is too expensive to take there and take the chance of tearing it up. A friend has taken his General there and turned it over twice. LOL I will take my Turbo R instead. 78" wide and 35's- way better for Moab
