3000 LB Xpedition ADV5 Operation in 4 wheel drive and Low Range - Belt Burn

That’s normal operations for a cvt. When you throttle up it essentially gears down for increased torque, even though the relative speed may not increase much. The motor in the Xpedition is the same one used in the RZR XP 1000 and as such is designed for high rpm. Using a “Cruiser” clutch kit can...

Color Swap…. Anyone done it yet?

Painting really wouldn’t hold up very well. That machine is wrapped. There’s several graphic wrap companies that have the Xpedition wraps available where you can choose your own color or graphics and have them wrap it or get a pre-cut kit and do it yourself.

    GMRS / 2WAY RADIOS -INSTALLS

It’s a non ground plane antenna. There’s no transmission or reception issues and the Swr reads good. Had it the same on my general and my radio was one of the farthest reaching in our group. I’ve also driven through low hanging trees and shrubs that scrubbed the roof pretty good without...

    Another...... WHY!

The part on the passenger side is more designed to scoop air from the clutch vent and direct it back. It’s blocked by the A/C and alternator on the Northstars so it loses its effectiveness.

    GMRS / 2WAY RADIOS -INSTALLS

I just mounted the antenna through the rear of the roof. It has an o-ring seal on the base so there’s no leaks and it’s a non-ground plane antenna so no issues being mounted to plastic

    Rear speakers

Fade and balance work just fine on my XP 5. The rear is slightly quieter than the front but that’s because of the tweeters on top of the dash in addition to the main speakers underneath it.

    Hello From Utah

There seems to be quite the delay on ADV 5 Northstars. I’ve seen quite a few ADV 2 Northstars. XP 2s and 5s seem to be doing the best on rollouts.

3000 LB Xpedition ADV5 Operation in 4 wheel drive and Low Range - Belt Burn

A clutch kit can also help, with a heavier springs for better belt grip and tuned primary weights for proper engagement. I went from stock, where I’d floor it and not know if the belt was slipping or the tires spinning, to a Gilomen clutch kit where if anything is slipping loose it’s the tires...

    GMRS / 2WAY RADIOS -INSTALLS

Iirc yours is a Northstar so it limits dash space. If you’re only doing a radio and not coms there may be enough space under the A/C controls to cut it into the lower switch spots. You could also mount it on the top center panel on the dash. If you’re doing coms as well, the 696+ Remote 696...

Removing the right rear tire is a little more work but made getting to the oil filter a lot easier going in from the side. I was able to remove the oil filter by hand even tho it was really tight.

    Obnoxiously LOUD !!

The problem with the ADV is the bed being part of the cab. I’m going to bet that the XPs are considerably quieter than the ADV by having the engine area at least partially separate from the cab. One thing that might help is a good, thick bed mat to help dampen the noise from that area. BedRug®...

    Packouts mounted

I mounted my Packout plates up against the sides. It left enough space between for two 6 gallon gas cans if I want. I usually only carry one though. Also, I moved 2 of the tie-down loops from the corner bolts to the center ones for the gas can ratchet strap.

    Fender extensions

Our primary riding is on rocky desert trails, so those tires have been put to the test. I’m guessing around another 1000-2000 before I replace them. They really are a good all-around tire though. They’ve done reasonably well at the dunes and handled rock crawling pretty well. The Ranger in the...

    Fender extensions

Thank you 😊 I have around 4300 miles on the KM3s. Pulled them off my old General when I traded it in. The long travel definitely helps the Ranger’s ride, but it’s still a tank compared with the Xpeditions ride, from the factory. It also helps that the seating in the Xpedition is way better...

Both my brother and I Used Triple S Polaris in Cedar City Utah. They were the firs in the area to get any Xpeditions in but shortly after, Moto Zoo in St George, Utah and Polaris World in Littlefield, Arizona got a couple in. All were the XP5 Ultimates. ADVs didn’t start showing up until...

    My first review

The coolant lines run about 4”-6” to the side of the tunnel under the passenger side floorboard. They have plastic support plates and are fairly close to the floor panels making it pretty much impossible to use pipe wrap insulation. The easiest way to do the insulation for me was to drop the 2...

    Turn Signal Kit

I finally got around to installing my Ryco turn signal kit on my XP 5. After doing the W. D. Kit on my brother’s, I figured I’d write about their differences. For starters, the Ryco kit is $100 less expensive. (Both kits were with the 6 led front lights) The W. D. kit has a smaller, and...

    My first review

While it’ll slow down draining from the cab a little, depending on how tightly you pack it, it doesn’t absorb water like fiberglass insulation or foam. I tested a bit of it by submerging some in a bucket of water and it doesn’t collapse and become dense like fiberglass. Also it’s somewhat fire...

    My first review

Excellent review! On the heat issues, I pulled down the skid plates on mine to install the turn signal kit and the area in front of the motor is wide open. In fact it looks like the easiest route for the air from the clutch vent is across the exhaust manifold and then forward to the back cab...

    Polaris Admiral?

30s. We put Maxxis RAZR XT 32s on my brothers XP 5 and they look great and give it a little extra ground clearance. There’s plenty of room on the front so no scrubbing even when turning.

ADV 5 NorthStar Real World Review

Dropping from a turbo sport car to a somewhat utility machine will do that lol. For me, I upgraded from a 2019 General so these Xpeditions feel snappy in comparison.
