Machine lives between 5 and 8k feet. Generally around 6500. I did get the cruiser option. Cruising 30 is about the same rpm as my ranger and general - around 5k.
It's been fantastic for me. I dont have experience with gilomen or any others but AA makes the machine so much more tolerable and I just put 600 miles on it this past week. Loaded down and nasty rocky climbs with zero issue. Belt grip is fantastic
That sucks. Mine is still showing the same Oct/Nov dates it has for a month or more. But i cancelled that order as I found one on a dealer floor in state. Got lucky and somebody backed out of their pre order.
I will be shocked if the 35s, even though they run small, fit. Keep us posted but I know a guy who has rubbing with 33s.
I'm installing my AA cruiser clutch kit this evening and will give it a run this weekend. Machine only has 2.4 miles but I think I know enough to do a decent before after...
I'm sure people will do it eventually but everything I've heard about clutch kits is that they get close enough and are a thousand times easier install
Lets hope the Ranger 1500 gets "addressed" soon too ha. A month since ordering with them stating units shipping late summer and no one even has a build date yet.
I don't buy it. They've already shipped a decent number of adv5 and a ton of adv2. I just found an adv5 Northstar on a dealer lot today that I'm buying and then canceling my pre order
The owners manual recommends an AGM battery charger. Weird.
If you do not drive the vehicle for more than TWO WEEKS, Polaris recommends using a BatteryMINDer® 2012 AGM - 2 AMP charger, which can be ordered through your dealer.
I would imagine duraclutch will have a clutch out in the not too distant future. In the meantime, aftermarket assasins, bikeman, and i think another company have clutch kits for a couple hundred bucks that lower RPM. As for sound deadening, Siless seems to work well. Stick it everywhere you can.
They'll also tell you that only polaris engine oil works in these machines. And that 30" tires are the largest you can run. And so on.
Me, I'll run the lead acid for 14 to 16 months then swap out for odyssey AGM
I dont like lithium characteristics for a sxs unless its a dual battery setup and even then I personally wouldnt do it. I dont see why this sxs is any different than the rest though. Quality AGM always wins on these machines.
My dealer hasn't heard a word about why the ADV5 (notably Northstars) keep getting pushed back. They are frustrated too but havent heard a peep from Polaris reps or corporate.
Wow those 33s look tall. What do they measure on the machine? They look great. I almost picked up a set but couldnt figure out what durometer the rubber was. Does it feel pretty soft? You'll have to let us know how the tires hold up after some miles on them.
Awesome to hear that the X still beats out the best a Ranger could be. And what a relief to see some real miles on the KM3s ha. I was sure hoping you didnt say 500. The X is the heaviest sxs ever (until the ranger XD ships) so im sure itll eat tires but good to see that the KM3s already had a...
I'd be careful with those tires. I believe they are only rated for machines up to 2500 lbs or so. An xpedition ADV5 Northstar weighs 3000 lbs. With that being said, I imagine they ride like pillows with how soft the sidewalls are.
Looks like I might be installing those extended fenders right away now. Glad to hear more testimonies regarding AC and cab sealing being improved.
How was the engine noise?
Which assumes that polaris would build an identical transmission as is found in a commuter Nissan. There are rubber CVT belts that cant handle abuse from 100hp machines and other that can tolerate 1,000 hp drag sleds.
The clutch packs, electronic tuning, clutch tension, and a host of other...
Windshield does open on the upper trims.
As to the steel belt, I saw shock therapy's video as well and that was all self professed speculation. No one know how the steel belt will either shock load or slip during whoops but thats not a concern of 99 perfect of ranger owners I would imagine...
Undeniable that the new ranger is pretty neat. Looks like 33s will be no problem and the bigger bed is great. That 3 cylinder sure sounds sweet. I think a set of elkas or fox QS3s could really turn it into a weapon. Of course none of us know how the steel belt will hold up but the specs are...
These QS3s are different than the QS3s we've seen on a million different machines. In fact, the Xpedition is the first time the spiral bore/groove QS3s have been seen anywhere. While much of the shock remains the same, the valving is not only different but many parts are completely new.
I would say the biggest downside to ST is their spring dividers wear shock bodies quicker than others. I have used multiple other companies for prior shock work and always be happy - I just havent seen anyone else testing the Xpedition yet. I am not advocating for one company or another...
