Was overly proud of this lol. I noticed that the shifter slot was confused with it's job... It decided to be a dusty forced air unit of undesired temperature instead 🤣. This was my version 1 tonight with random garage scraps to remedy that issue. Hope you guys enjoy!

That looks really good, and I have a leather boot from Amazon I’d like to use similar to what you’ve done. Does the plastic on the console/bottom of the boot pop out or did you have to go up from under the machine and remove the skid plate?

The rubber portion pulls right out. I got glued my material to the bottom side of that.

That is perfect. The ride last weekend I noticed cold air coming up the shifter shaft, and dust blowing up through the gap during the ride

Bought boot on Amazon, unscrewed the small screws holding the plastic knob on the shaft and slid the boot over the shaft and double back taped the boot on the existing base and all works great, no air flow at all. I think I posted a pic of this on a prior message. Amazon product:

It's either cold air in the winter or hot in the summer. This completely solved my problem. It was in the low 30s and doing 55 down the road no air was coming through.

just ordered this today. Going to install! Thanks for the tip.

I didn't tape mine to the base at all. I didn't want it covering up the entire shifting base, and probably come un-taped anyway. After I removed the shifter knob, I removed the rubber part covering the hole (it pops right out), then I bent the two short metal lengths of the new shifter boot a bit inward, stuffed it into the shifter hole, installed the rubber shifter cover again, and finished with a tight zip tie on top. I have no air leaks now. I could see people cutting the metal frame off completely from this new Amazon shifter boot, but I thought it would not matter, and stay in place better with it left on.
