Can anyone educate me? On the air duct to the drive belt cover, there are four tubes that drop down that are part of the duct. WTF? What purpose do they serve?

Helmholtz chamber. It is also known as the Helmholtz resonator. This chamber is of a dimension carefully tuned to reflect and cancel sound waves of specified frequencies.
OK GT, First I thought you were Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory. Next, I thought you were pulling my leg. I then researched Helmholtz. I don't think anyone else would have known what this is or what it does, I am impressed !

I just emailed my son and told him I had something he does not on his Can Am, A Helmholtz resonator !

I asked to be educated, and you did exactly that, Thanks !

Wow! I thought it was a water induction trap. Also thought that any water going into this ductwork would be evaporated over time by the forced air going around and through it. I'm sure this still happens to a degree, but it didn't occur to me that Polaris would install something like this for intake noise reduction. Thanks GT Pilot!
