Did anyone else notice the curb weight on the new Polaris Xpedition ADV 5 Northstar? I can't seem to believe that it weighs in at 2,916 lbs! The dry weight of on the ADV 5 Northstar is 2,790 lbs and the Xpedition XP 5 Northstar's dry curb weight is 2,740. That's a hefty weight before adding on a lot of heavy-duty accessories like roof racks, tents, etc.

For comparison, the 2023 Can-Am Defender Max Lone Star dry weight is only about 2,538 lbs. That's for a full cab, heat/AC, 30-inch tires, JL Audio roof, etc.

It's an absolute pig. Hopefully the extra weight went into reinforcing weak points like driveline and frame. 3k before accessories, gear, and extra fuel is going to make a lot of single axle trailer obsolete

That's a really good point, I didn't even think about the extra trailering capacity that the Xpedition will require at these weights. The basic little single-axle utility trailer isn't going to cut it for these rigs.

The weight issue is a very interesting topic. Many states have OHV weight limits well under the Xpeditions weight. So how will the states license these heavy vehicles? The AZ Governor just VETOED a bill that would have raised our OHV weight from 2500 lbs. to 3500 lbs. Stay tuned!!

Yep. Sold my single axle and went with duals with brakes.

The ADV-5 is a heavyweight for sure. I've been using my dual axle car hauler to move mine around. You notice the weight in so many ways - Not just trailering... it's a whole new driving experience in sand, rock crawling, mud and just cruise'n the backroads. Corners well and when in Comfort mode it's a dream machine. Whoops aren't too bad either. However, if your previous machine was a lightweight two seat RZR be prepared to adjust your driving habits when you get behind the wheel of this porker.
