Help,, I am going deaf. I recently purchased the Xpediton ADV Northstar and it is almost unbearably loud to the point that I would not recommend spending $50K on this machine. It helps when you load up the cooler and tool box in the back end but still crazy loud. I love everything else about this unit. It performs awesomely its just really, really, really loud.

When I eventually smoke this clutch I plan on going with a Duraclutch. What type of clutch kit do you recommend in the meantime and have you used a specific sound deadening products?

I would imagine duraclutch will have a clutch out in the not too distant future. In the meantime, aftermarket assasins, bikeman, and i think another company have clutch kits for a couple hundred bucks that lower RPM. As for sound deadening, Siless seems to work well. Stick it everywhere you can.

The problem with the ADV is the bed being part of the cab. I’m going to bet that the XPs are considerably quieter than the ADV by having the engine area at least partially separate from the cab. One thing that might help is a good, thick bed mat to help dampen the noise from that area.

BedRug® - Bed Mat for Drop-In Liner
Is a lightweight polypropylene fiber mat around 5/8” thick. It’s oil and gas resistant and very durable.
I’ve also used Poly-fil to insulate all the open areas underneath and around the shifter and center console. Besides dampening some of the noise it’s also reduced the heat coming into the cab.

It’s called a ranger xp 1000
I take it you don't own one? Tons of heat coming from the center console. Have to add insulation to stop that. If you're talking about the full cab. It doesn't seal well at all plan on spending a long time sealing that up
if you think you're going to get a side-by-side from any manufacturer that doesn't require any modifications you better go buy a Jeep or bronco

I respect that but you’re wrong about lots. The heat isn’t a problem. I know it’s there it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t need insulation any where. Maybe isn’t sealed great but with fan on high either heat or A/C going it pressurized the cab enough that dust doesn’t come in.

There are 6 of us in our group with ranger crew northstars. Years are 20,22,23.

The rangers are pretty damn good.

Have you ever owned a ranger?

I have a 15 Ranger with full cab. It's in my signature

Clayton, sounds like to me that you have heard enough of the complaints on the Expedition ADV, should be easy for you to move on to the XP 1500 Ranger... As for me I'm listening to the negatives and still anxiously awaiting my machine, should be the next weekend, and I will now have a better idea of what to look for, and ways to help improve hopefully.. I am still excited to get my machine back home...

Yes. Please fill us in when you get it. Mine is a long way away yet.

Is yours s adv5?

I will say that after having my Xpedition ADV Northstar two seater for two months now the noise is not as bothersome or I am getting used to it. It could also be because I love this machine! The ride quality, the stereo, the seats to name a few things that are exceptional. I did add some soundproofing to the bed and behind the seats and it helps a little. If you're waiting for your unit don't worry about the noise!

Hello Forum - I wondered if anyone had added KIlamat or anything to quiet this thing down? Any ideas and real success lowering the cab dba would be great. I am not interested in neutering it and installing a clutch kit. From most readers I should have the "quietest version" of the Xpedition because I have a XP5 NorthStar...but it is still loud as FUCK!. Going to ride through the season and considering going back to Ranger 1500 NS once i can test drive it. I love everything about my Xpedition but the noise and heat level is insane. Open to ideas...Thanks

I primarily did poly-fil between the floor and skid plate for engine heat getting into the cab, but it also helped the noise a lot. It was around 96 db in the cab stock on an ultimate. After doing the insulation it peaks at 86 db and 63 db at an idle.

I covered the back of the firewall with 3 layers of Second Skin damplifier and then used some of their mass loaded vinyl sound blocking on the inside of the firewall. There are some open holes that can be filled and covered around the rear seat belt area. Made a noticeable difference but didn’t take away the noise at high rpm. Will work on tunnel/floor at some later date.
