Packouts mounted

I installed two Milwaukee pack out mounts and four boxes. I set the mounts 3/4 inch back from the edge of the bed so the lids would clear the bump out on the rear window. I wanted the maximum amount of room between the boxes for extra storage as well at the rear of the bed for extra storage. Also going to mount the two rotopax as I show in the picture. I used quarter inch bolts with a nut on the underside of the bed. Put blue locktite on them and cut them off flush.. some of the upper bolts rubbed on the rod that's used for a latch across the front of the box. So if you try this I suggest you put the packout mounts maybe 2 in from the front of the bed. So far it looks like I got lucky and none of the nuts on the back side or hitting the frame or anything.
The two back packouts carry my heavy tools and such. If we go riding on rough or rocky terrain those two will be sitting on the floorboard inside the cab to lower the center of gravity. I have the two rails on order from Polaris where I can tie those two boxes down to the floorboard.
The two rotopaxs will be tied down with a ratchet strap between the handles and across the bed. I have some long gear ties on order and I will also tie the rotopaxs to the tie downs in the lock and ride rails

If I need to carry my 32" spare it will lay on top of the packout and on the edge of the tailgate.

Here is my locking system. The cable is short enough that you can't slide the Packout out of the mounts. I double nutted the cable clamps and then took a grinder and messed up the threads so you can't get the nuts off. If we stay somewhere in a motel and I can quickly remove the boxes and put them in the cab or the motel room if I want.

Good stuff. Could also use cable ferrules so you don't have to bother boogering up the threads on the cable clamps and it'll give it a cleaner look. (Sorry, it's the trapper in me and my OCD that recommends the ferrules.)

Nope, north Texas up by Oklahoma. I carry lots of expensive tools and don't want my stuff stolen.. We do ride in Colorado and Arkansas as well as TX and OK

Thanks. The clamps came with the cable.
Can you use ferrules on plastic coated cables?

I mounted my Packout plates up against the sides. It left enough space between for two 6 gallon gas cans if I want. I usually only carry one though. Also, I moved 2 of the tie-down loops from the corner bolts to the center ones for the gas can ratchet strap.

Yes. On coated cable I would pound them on which has been proven to have a stronger hold than crimping. If I were to crimp I personally would remove the plastic coating on the ends where you make your loop, but either way it will hold when crimped correctly.

Hey JDfarmer, where did you find the MAX D-rings? I can't find them anywhere and the polaris site says they won't be out till October. These things are a must have in my book. Thanks1

Thanks for the info on the ferrules. I ordered the Max D-rings when I ordered the machine. They are one of the few things that came in. Still waiting on the roof rack and mount as well as spare axles, ball joints, and service manual.

Looks like. Good idea on moving the ring. I should do that as well to hold my DeWalt 8" pruning chainsaw in place.
